DMVPN’s are a highly scalable, and easy to manage tunnel solution. While similar in many ways to traditional tunnels like an IPSec site-to-site VPN, or a GRE tunnel, DMVPN doesn’t have the static nature of traditional VPNs. Traditional tunnels are point-to-point.

DMVPN (Dynamic Multipoint VPN) is a routing technique we can use to build a VPN network with multiple sites without having to statically configure all devices. It’s a “hub and spoke” network where the spokes will be able to communicate with each other directly without having to go through the hub. Oct 01, 2018 · DMVPN stands for Dynamic Multipoint VPN and it is an effective solution for dynamic secure overlay networks. In short, Dynamic Multipoint VPN is a combination of the following technologies: Multipoint GRE tunnels (mGRE), Next Hop Routing Protocol (NHRP), Routing (EIGRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP), IPsec and Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF). Oct 22, 2019 · Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN) is a dynamic tunneling form of a virtual private network (VPN) supported on Cisco routers. This article contains step-by-step instructions on how to configure DMVPN between a "Hub" and two "Spokes" using RUT9xx routers. Prerequisites and overview [edit | edit source] You will need: At least two RUT9xx routers Category : DMVPN Phase I. Hub and Spoke (mGRE hub, p2p GRE spokes) This phase involves configuring a single mGRE interface on the hub, and all the spokes are still static tunnels so you won’t get any dynamic spoke-to-spoke connectivity. The only advantage of the phase I setup is the fact the hub router’s configuration is much simpler. Nov 13, 2018 · DMVPN Explained | VPN Tunnels Part 4 GRE is fantastic, but lacks the scalability needed for a large network. Target audience . If you’re considering DMVPN deployment beyond a few sites, you simply must attend this advanced webinar. Regardless of whether you’re a high-end consultant or a network designer working on a complex DMVPN-based design, you’ll appreciate the design and configuration tips and the intricate details of the scenarios covered during the webinar.

FlexVPN vs traditional DMVPN. In its essence, FlexVPN is the same as DMVPN. Connections between devices are still point-to-point GRE tunnels, spoke-to-spoke connectivity is still achieved with NHRP redirect message, IOS routers even run the same NHRP code for both DMVPN and FlexVPN, which also means that both are Cisco’s proprietary technologies. Feb 13, 2020 · DMVPN Phase 3 is the final and most scalable phase in DMVPN as it combines the summarisation benefits of phase 1 with the spoke-to-spoke traffic flows achieved via phase 2. This phase works by having the Hub summarise a default route or to summarise all spoke prefixes and then to enable NHRP redirection messages. i am using DMVPN single Cloud and DUAL Hub . the Problem is that spoke is using both hubs at the same time and not able to chooses one hub at the same time. i am using EIGRP in Core and when changing the distance, bandwidth or delay under Tunnel0 noting change and spoke is still using the hubs at the same time. While their implementation was somewhat proprietary, the underlying technologies are actually standards based. The three technologies are: NHRP - NBMA Next Hop Resolution Protocol RFC 2332

Oct 09, 2018 · In the last article, I explained how to configure DMVPN phase3, but what are the most useful commands to troubleshoot this type of network architecture? Five are the main group of commands used to troubleshoot a DMVPN topology: show dmvpn […] show ip nhrp […] show ip eigrp […] show crypto […] The “show dmvpn” […]

DMVPN Characteristics-The main components of DMVPN is a MGRE and NHRP. MGRE – Multipoint GRE create a multiple dynamic virtual tunnel to establish connection between spoke to spoke sites directly. - One mode workaround for this / in the step of troubleshooting the dmvpn network fragment issue would be to use virtual reassembly on the router which would then reassemble / frag again the packets. This can have perf's impact and would only be a workaround. - Getting the troubleshooting done on the fragment path is the go i believe.
